"Reading is the greatest gift we can give our children."
As children emerge as readers, it is important they develop an automatic and effortless ability to read words. The study of word families, or rhymes, is effective in helping young learners recognize common word patterns. Learning a single word family results in the acquisition of more than a dozen words.
Think about it. How many words can you think of that end in ack? A child who knows "pack" can by analogy, learn sack, rack, stack, and so on. Rhyming words are fun to listen to, AND a pedagogically sound investment. Dr. Seuss much? iSort Words is an educational app that builds phonological awareness, teaches kids how to build words, and develops fluency with word recognition. The focus is on word families. And fun. |
